Nauriel too slowed her pace when the terrain roughened. Creatures? she thought.
"Do you know what sort of creatures guard this treasure, and whether or not we will live through an attack by one?" she asked him, looking ahead at the mountains. "Surely we don't ride to our doom?" she said, looking at him curiously.

Baranor smirked and glanced next to him at Nauriel. "Our doom?" He said, "No. Surely not OUR doom. Maybe yours." Baranor laughed at his joke. He held on tightly to the reins as Roheryn stumbled over a bunch of rocks. "Have no fear my Lady, we will come out fine." Baranor gave a calm smile to Nauriel and continued riding. "We are almost at the entrance to the mountain range. We follow this path into the depths of darkness."

"Well if you are so sure that everything is fine then I won't worry." she says sarcastically. Nauriel can't help but think that something was guarding all that treasure, and it was probably big.
"Don't we need to stop and make a few torches before we go in?" she asked, slowing Laire's pace and carefully watching the ground so her horse wouldn't break her leg. She didn't look at the mountain they were about to enter, not being very fond of going underground.

Baranor abruptly halted Roheryn as the terrain became smooth and cold, and the pass into the mountains was now only a few yards away. "Sure, torches sound like a good idea," he said, "but how do you suppose we make one?" Baranor reached out his hand, pointing at the ground. There was no wood, no trees, no stones. Only snow and dust."

Nauriel laughs and dismounts. Branches and a few logs could be seen poking out of the saddle bags her horse wore.
"I figured this would happen, she I gathered some wood. I guessed that it would be dark inside the caves." she said, laughing. The elf took out a thick stick and handed it to Baranor.
"There you have it, a torch! Just start a fire and light it and then we can go." she said. "I think that if we ride close together we won't need to have two."

Baranor smiled and grabbed the wood from Nauriel. He held it with his left hand as he viciously struck his sword against the mountain side. A quick spark ignited as he poked the wood in and it lit up in flames. "We do not ride through the mountain. The terrain is too tough for any horse, even the greatest. The darkness may also get to them. We walk."
Baranor nodded at Nauriel as he stepped closer to the entrance.

"Have anything on your horse you'd like to keep?" she asked as she checked the saddle bags again and took Laire's reins in her hands.
"Because there is no way I am leaving my horse out here. She will follow me anywhere, and I would rather know she was following than not know if you understand what I mean."

Baranor looked at Nauriel and nodded. He took a few bags off Roheryn and latched them onto Laire. "I too care for my horse. But he is strong, I know he will meet me at the other end." Baranor kissed his mane and waved his hand, sending Roheryn off into the mist. Baranor adjusted his belt and took a deep breath, then walked forward, entering into the mountain. He waved the torch in front of him enabling to see. He saw icicles hanging from the roof, with rocks scattered about. He looked down to a rat runniing around his feet and he shoved it away. He gazed out in front of him, seeing a long and wide pathway that leaded into the unknown.

Nauriel followed him, Laire following willingly. Her ears were flattened, but she walked forward into the darkness. The mare stayed very close to Nauriel, her head beside the elf's shoulder. Nauriel whispered some things to her horse in elvish and then turned her attention towards Baranor.
"So do you have any idea how to get through the mountain or are we going purely on intuition?" she asked, her voice sounded hollow as it echoed on the walls around them.

Baranor hesitated before he answered her question. "Well, given the fact neither of us have ever ventured these areas, and that we have no guide, I guess our intuition really needs to kick in now." Baranor chuckled as he moved farther into the mountain. The air getting thicker and warmer and the cool breeze beginning to slow. "I guess we just follow this path," he said, "But if I know a true man from Rhun, they would not be so obvious. Look for clues, and traps." Baranor's voice trailed off as he stared into the darkness.

Clues and traps... she thought to herself. What in Middle-Earth have you got yourself into? You are walking into a cave that neither of you have been in, and you are going on gut feeling. This will end really well she thought pesimistically, almost regretting her decision in coming.
You have to take big risks for big rewards.. she thought, and again started talking quietly in elvish to her horse. It was something to do, and she figured if someone or something was there, the horse would know first, and if they got into trouble, Laire would know the way out.

They crept deeper into the tunnels now, slowly getting darker as the light from outside began to disappear. Baranor looked ahead as he remembered the exact words he had been told about the treasure. "Deep in the depths of the mountain, through a maze of tunnels and roads, a great treasure of diamonds and jewels lies buried in the eye of the seeker." Baranor said this aloud and pondered what could the "eye of the seeker" mean...

Nauriel looked up at him. "What is that you said?" she asked, wondering what he was talking about. Perhaps it was what brought him here, but she didn't know.

((I played Peasent's Quest, it was awesome. Burn that kerrek....anyways))
Baranor looked up from the ground and stared at Nauriel. He repeated the exact words, only saying them slower, more careful. He still did not know what "Eye of the Seeker" meant, so he walked, and wondered. He heard drops of water falling from the low roof onto the hard ground. Every step he took a rock crumbled beneath his feet. He gazed out in front of him as the walls lengthened, and they were in the middle of a large platform. There were 3 different tunnels that lied before them.
