"I am sure that she can." she said, gently grasping Laire's mane. It was awfully dark, not even her elven eyes could see. It was up to Laire's animal instincts to find their way out. Slowly the horse crept forward, and the elf and man were forced to follow it wherever the mare led.

Nauriel sees the torch go out and stops. No use walking in the dark. She tries to allow her eyes to adjust, but there is no light anywhere.
"Alright Laire, lead the way.." she says quietly, knowing that the horse can hear much more than she can. The mare walks forward slowly, inching her way along the plateau. She obviously didn't like the tremors.
"Baranor?" she managed to say, hoping that maybe he could hear her.

"Well that is always good news.." she said sarcastically. "Maybe if someone doesn't want us here, they just did us a favor and locked themselves out.."
Nauriel looked over at Baranor and could see that he was trying to think, and probably not in the mood for her comments. She may have been an elf, but even she could see that the stone was good and strong. She stroked Laire's muzzle and followed the man quietly. The only sound that could be heard were Laire's hoofs lightly tapping the stone and echoing through the hall.

"Guess there is only one way out now.." she said, seeing the light return again as he came back.
"Come on Laire" she said, following Baranor once more. I just hope that there is another way out... she thought, feeling rather helpless. It would be a cruel fate for an elf to be trapped underground forever. She stroked her mare's muzzle and tried to think of something else.

Nauriel followed, but only after two steps did she find this difficult. Laire did not want to go into this tunnel, and when it is a fight between a large horse and an elf girl, the odds go in favor of the horse.
The red headed elf knew what to do though. Laire would follow her anywhere, so she let go of the reins and walked in. Immediately the mare's head was above Nauriel's shoulder. The elf sang quietly to the horse, who was keeping the pace, but shivering. She draped her cloak over the mare's back and again took the reins. Laire calmed down, and only had her ears back. Nauriel kept singing of Mirkwood, and the fields of Rohan, and other happier thoughts to help not only her horse, but herself. She stayed in the light the torch provided and followed Baranor.

"Oh wonderful." said Nauriel, noticing the three choices in front of her. Now what do we do? Choose one and wish for the best? she thought. Before she spoke, she studied the options.
"Looks like there are carvings all around the center tunnel, too bad we don't know what they say. It could be the direct highway through the mountain, but then again, your riddle speaks of mazes."
"The left tunnel has an ill odor coming from it, and I can see the remains of a skeleton. That also could mean many things. It could be that it is a warning for others not to go down there, it could mean that nothing but trouble is down there, but it could just be a dead person."
"The right tunnel appears to have nothing wrong with it, which generally means something is wrong. It could also be nothing."
Nauriel looked at Baranor and laughed. "So basically we have no idea which one to take, unless you have an idea." she said, stroking Laire's muzzle.

((LOLOL i heart trogdor. have you played peasants quest? i did lolol it was hilarious until the end. ))
Nauriel looked up at him. "What is that you said?" she asked, wondering what he was talking about. Perhaps it was what brought him here, but she didn't know.

Clues and traps... she thought to herself. What in Middle-Earth have you got yourself into? You are walking into a cave that neither of you have been in, and you are going on gut feeling. This will end really well she thought pesimistically, almost regretting her decision in coming.
You have to take big risks for big rewards.. she thought, and again started talking quietly in elvish to her horse. It was something to do, and she figured if someone or something was there, the horse would know first, and if they got into trouble, Laire would know the way out.

Nauriel followed him, Laire following willingly. Her ears were flattened, but she walked forward into the darkness. The mare stayed very close to Nauriel, her head beside the elf's shoulder. Nauriel whispered some things to her horse in elvish and then turned her attention towards Baranor.
"So do you have any idea how to get through the mountain or are we going purely on intuition?" she asked, her voice sounded hollow as it echoed on the walls around them.

"Have anything on your horse you'd like to keep?" she asked as she checked the saddle bags again and took Laire's reins in her hands.
"Because there is no way I am leaving my horse out here. She will follow me anywhere, and I would rather know she was following than not know if you understand what I mean."

Nauriel laughs and dismounts. Branches and a few logs could be seen poking out of the saddle bags her horse wore.
"I figured this would happen, she I gathered some wood. I guessed that it would be dark inside the caves." she said, laughing. The elf took out a thick stick and handed it to Baranor.
"There you have it, a torch! Just start a fire and light it and then we can go." she said. "I think that if we ride close together we won't need to have two."

"Well if you are so sure that everything is fine then I won't worry." she says sarcastically. Nauriel can't help but think that something was guarding all that treasure, and it was probably big.
"Don't we need to stop and make a few torches before we go in?" she asked, slowing Laire's pace and carefully watching the ground so her horse wouldn't break her leg. She didn't look at the mountain they were about to enter, not being very fond of going underground.
