Mattheapar has not ventured into the forests of Mirkwood for quite some time. Ever since he was crowned king, he has been busy with the affairs of the kingdom and has not had time to travel about as he used to. Part of his misses that wandering life, but the other part of him enjoys being in control. He has not changed much since losing Isilwen; his heart is still cold, not allowing anyone into it, for fear of losing them as well. But he has finally recovered enough to begin searching for answers to his beloved's fate. So far he has learned who was responsible - Menel. They have met and fought many times, and once Mattheapar thought he had defeated her, but she keeps returning. He is sure he has not seen the end of that wretched being. But he has not learned much more than this. He wants to know why she was offered no protection from Mirkwood, or why they were allowing an evil elf to live among them in the first place. Questions...questions that need to be answered.
As he walks through the forests of Mirkwood, he remembers of the last time he was here. He wanders if eleryn still lives in these lands and if Legolas has finally found his girl. As he is thinking of these things, he hears elvish voices nearby. One of them is the voice of Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood and he believes another to be the voice of eleryn. The other he cannot place. He begins to walk towards the voices and eventually sees them in the distance.
Mattheapar(&): "Hello, my friends. (bows) It has been years since we last met. But I will talk more later. It appears I have become lost. Can you lead me to the palace? I wish to talk with Lord Thranduil."

Mattheapar feels Aelinn's hand on his shoulder and is comforted a little, but not much. He is still worried how this will turn out. Idriol's idea of him going into the West, to Valinor has been tempting him the entire morning, but he cannot just leave Aelinn like this. She needs him, and he is starting to believe that he needs her.
He has his opinion on what should be done, but he does not want to affect anyone elses opinion. They are the people who should decide, not him.

He and Isilwen are enjoying a picnic together in the forest. Mattheapar has made this picnic for her, as it is their seventh anniversary. He remembers the wedding as if it were yesterday. Bells ringing, roses falling, and then darkness.....Isilwen vanishes in front of his very eyes. He searches everywhere for her: in Minas Tirith, Rohan, Lothlorien, and even Mirkwood, but cannot find her. He eventually reaches the Grey Havens. And there he sees her, riding into the West. He gets on a boat himself and rides out to meet her, but when he reaches her, the boat she was riding in is no more. It has vanished, and his beloved is nowhere in site.
Mattheapar wakes from his slumber. It is the day - the day of the council. He does not remember falling asleep. Last he remembers, he was weeping on the bed, his face in the pillow. His tears must have put him to sleep. Oh how he wishes he could go return to his sleep, to his wonderful dream of Isilwen. How happy those times were, not full of grief and sorrow as they are now. Everyone near him has either perished or left him - Arwen, Elrond, Alalawiel, and Isilwen. All he has left is revenge on those who took everything away from him.
He walks out the door and finds himself standing in the midst of a beautiful day. If only his heart were so bright and beautiful as the day. Perhaps there is still hope. If the right king is chosen, Mattheapar may be able to convince him to launch a full assault on all orcs left in Middle-Earth. Yes, there is still hope. A faint hope, but hope it remains. This council will decide if Mattheapar can live out his vengeance, or if he must go to Valinor immediately. He approaches the council room and sees all sorts of friendly faces. Rosco, the librarian is there, as is Aelinn, whom he loves as a daughter. Also there is Idriol. There is Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood, and several others he does not recognize (Menel, eleryn, whoever wants to be there). Mattheapar sits in the seat beside Hildor as they are the two in charge of this council and signals for the council to begin.
Hildor: People of Rivendell, and all others present here, we have just witnessed what may be the single greatest tragedy in recent Rivendell history. As you all know, Lord Elrond has departed these lands and gone into the West, leaving his two sons to lead us. I regret to inform you that Elrohir and Elladan, along with Mattheapar's wife, Isilwen, and his sister, Alalawiel, have perished at the hands of the orcs. I am sure Mattheapar is in great mourning and it would be very kind for you to pay your respect to him after this council. Which brings me to the reason we called this council. Rivendell is now left without a ruler. I am not sure who Lord Elrond would have wanted to take command, and I do not think it is my place to decide, so the elves of Middle-Earth will choose. Who should be Rivendell's new ruler?

Mattheapar does not know what to say. He does not want to hurt Rosco's feelings, but at this moment all he wants is to be alone. He has never really had a conversation with Rosco, since he is always coming and going and she has never left Rivendell. He does not believe they have much in common; in fact, they are the exact opposite. She stays in the library all day long, while he must be travelling to really feel at home. She is smart and patient; he is smart, but impatient.
Mattheapar: "Thank you for your kindness, but all I want at the moment is to be left alone."
He pushes her out of his mind and places his head between his knees again. She looks hurt. She begins to walk away, but he stops her.
Mattheapar: "We are going to have a council to decide who the new king shall be, and since you probably already know all about Elrohir and Elladan's deaths, I would like you to be present at this council. You seem to have wisdom beyond your years and may have something to say on this matter. I will see you then."
He walks off to his dormitory, pondering many things.

(About 20-30 years ago; end of Third Age)
Mattheapar spots the gate up ahead. He has finally returned to Rivendell after nearly a year's absense. Much has happened in that year, and he is glad to finally be able to settle down again with Isilwen. But much will be different now that Lord Elrond is gone. It was only two days ago that he said farewell to him at the Grey Havens. He had departed into the West with Galadriel, Mithrandir, and Frodo, never to return to this Middle-Earth again. Before he departed, however, he had given Mattheapar one final order, to take charge of Rivendell until his sons returned. Mattheapar is looking forward to his new temporary position, but most of all he is looking forward to seeing Isilwen again after a year and sharing all the details of his adventure with her. She will definitely enjoy the part about him singlehandedly slaying a cave troll in the depths of Moria and of his orc-fest at Helm's Deep.
Mattheapar is smiling as he approaches the gatekeeper, but he does not return the smile, and at once Mattheapar senses that something is not right. He rides Brussels to the stables and makes his way towards the palace, where he is greeted by a multitude of sad elves. As hard as he tries, he cannot find Isilwen amongst the crowd. He searches for Hildor, the man left in charge of Rivendell while he and Elrond were away. Making his way through the crowd, he spots Hildor standing on a platform, ready to make an announcement.
Hildor: (%)As you all know, Lord Elrond's sons, Elrohir and Elladan, where sent to the forest of Mirkwood a fortnight ago with a female companion. Not one of them has returned as of yet, but we sent a messenger to find out what has delayed them. Fear not, I am sure they are all fine.(&)
The crowd begins to disperse, seemingly satisfied with this announcement. But Mattheapar is not satisfied. He makes his way toward Hildor to find out more. Just then, a horse speeds past, barely missing him. The rider jumps off and runs to Hildor, handing him a message. Hildor reads the message and goes into shock. Mattheapar runs over and grabs the message from him.
"To the Lord of Rivendell,
While the Dark Lord has been defeated, evil is still present on this Middle-Earth. It has shown itself once again in the most wretched of forms. I was walking through the forest around a week ago, when I came across what appeared to be the site of a battle. I immediately searched for casualties and regret to inform you that the bodies of Elrohir and Elladan were among the orc debris. Also among the casualties was their two female companions and any other elves that were with them. It appears that none survived. My suspicions of who did this lie on Menel. She has been the cause of much trouble around Mirkwood latey, ever since she was exiled. I have sent this messenger back to you, after having him swear not to give this message to anyone save the Lord of Rivendell. You have my deepest sympathies,
Lord Thranduil of Mirkwood."
A lump grows in Mattheapar's throat and his heart feels as if it is being stabbed by a Morgul blade. He is afraid to ask Hildor who the female companion was, for fear that his suspicions be proven true. Finally, he grows up enough courage to ask.
Mattheapar: (&)Hildor...was one of the female companions....my beloved Isilwen?(&)
Hildor: (&)Yes...she was....and the other was your sister.(&)
Mattheapar's heart begins to throb like it never has before, and tears well up in his eyes. From this moment on, he swears to seek revenge on the one called Menel and on all of orckind.
Hildor: (&)I will give orders for the whole town to go into mourning, and then we will discuss our dilemna of who is to be the new Lord of Rivendell. I will send word for a council to be held tomorrow evening, but until then, take care.(&)
He pats Mattheapar on the back and walks off. Mattheapar falls to his knees and begins to weep.
(To be continued by any Rivendell elf)

Yes, it is I, the great Matt, who has not logged in to this board for over a year, and who many of you perhaps feared dead. To this I say, poppy######. Did you really think anything, even death, would be able to keep me away? (Ok, so really I just like saying that word--poppy######)
Well, I am currently entrenched in my freshman year at Campbellsville University, and for some reason I had the sudden urge to log on to tor.N for the first time in like....EVER! So I tried, only to have the stupid campus internet block the chat room. I was a sad....sad boy.
Until I dug into my computer's archives and discovered the link to this site! I had forgotten in existed to be quite honest. I miss you all, and if anyone ever checks this again, please contact me.
My current email: mwegbe08@students.campbellsville.edu
I also have MySpace.

(Since this is dedicated to me I might as well join ) Name: Mattheapar Hynduil (Blueleaf) Race: Fanorian Elf Sex: Male Age: 1500 more or less Weapon(s): Longbow and Narthail, the sword that can only destroy evil. Appearance: As with all elves, Mattheapar has no blemish on his face. His pointed ears are not as visible as those of most elves, since his long silky hair covers them for the most part. Mattheapar stands at 6'3, taller than most of the elves he knows. There was once a time when he would smile, but now there is hardly a time when he is able to, so he always has sort of a blank look on his face. His eyes are brown and his hair is black. Personality: Mattheapar used to enjoy company and was very joyful, but since the death of his wife, he has grown more quiet and lonely. He has a hatred for the orcs that cannot be matched, and whenever he meets with one, he will never meet with it again. He does not particularly like humans, believing they are are too dependant of each other. He is quicker to anger than most elves, but would never harm a fellow elf, unless by accident, even if his life depended on it. Skill: Mattheapar is very skillfull with the longbow. His childhood was spent at the archery. He also carries a long sword-like knife named Narthail, and if need be, he can give even the most talented swordsman a fight. He is also an excellent tactician, which is why Lord Elrond had him as his military advisor and later left him in charge of Rivendell. Strengths: His wisdom in battle (usually) , skill with the longbow, and agility. His knowledge of the wild is also a valuable strength. Weakness: His hatred for orcs and sometimes men and his impatience cause his to sometimes make careless decisions. History: Mattheapar was born into the royal family of the realm of Fanorian, which is now forgotten by all but the elves. He was the youngest of three, having on older brother and sister. His father, Lord Melron, had a bright future planned for his youngest son, but it would never be fulfilled. When Mattheapar was only 19 years of age, Fanorian was invaded by orcs from deep beneath Ered Luin. The city was not prepared for an assault, and by the time they saw it coming, it was too late. Melron and Mattheapar's older brother went to meet them head on. He never saw them again, because Mattheapar stayed behind with his sister. As the orcs neared the palace, Mattheapar and his sister escaped through a secret exit into the forest. They watched their beloved city burn to the ground and from this point on, Mattheapar swore to seek revenge on the orcs. His sister and he made for the city of Rivendell, and were welcomed there. It was here that he met Arwen and fell in love with her, although he could never come up with the courage to ask how she felt about him. Nearly a millenium went by without any special occurences, but that would soon change. He was accidentally involved in the murder of an elf, and was exiled with the band of real murderers. They planned to settle and form a new colony. However, he band met an unfortunate fate, as their leader was murdered by one of his own. After that it scattered. Mattheapar stayed by himself and became a wanderer. It was during this time that he learned all about the wild. After many years, he returned to Rivendell to seek pardon from Lord Elrond, only to find that the Lord of Rivendell was busy with more serious matters. The Dark Lord Sauron was making his return. Lord Elrond knew that Mattheapar's services would be greatly needed in the years to come, so he pardoned him and made him his military advisor. Mattheapar hoped that his new job would impress Arwen, but was heart-broken to find that she had a new man in her life, a human, Aragorn. He tried to get her attention back on him, but it was useless. Then, he met Isilwen and his heart changed directions. Unlike Arwen, Isilwen loved him back, and they were married. His marriage with Isilwen coincided with the Council of Elrond. After the fellowship left, Elrond ordered Mattheapar to follow them and make sure that no harm came to the Ringbearer. Reluctant to leave Isilwen, Mattheapar finally left and found that the fellowship had gone into Moria. Not wanting to go through that cursed darkness, Mattheapar went through the Gap of Rohan and arrived at Edoras just days after Theoden and the Rohirrim had left for Helm's Deep. He followed them there too, but once again arrived just after they had left for Isengard. Not wanting to arrive late again, Mattheapar read their next move and rode for Minas Tirith. It was there that he met Gandalf and learned of the coming attack on the city. He also learned that the Ringbearer was no longer with the company. After helping defend the city, he returned to Elrond to deliver the news. But when he reached the city, he was confronted with some news he didn't want to hear. Isilwen and his sister had been sent to Lothlorien to deliver a message, but had not returned. Just then, one of the elves sent with them returned, and said that they had both been killed by orcs on the outskirts of the forest. This was the final straw for Mattheapar. His heart grew cold after that moment and he swore he could never love again. After the War of the Ring, Elrond travelled into the West, and left Mattheapar in charge of Rivendell.
