Eoden looked deeper into the cave and saw the two conversing. A small fire sparked in the middle of the cave, enlighting its surrounding. He soon heard a loud crack, as he swiftly jumped to his feet, startled.
Eoden immediately turned behind him to the forest by the cave. He saw a dark figure on its knees behind a patch of trees. He hesitated, and quietly crawled to the spot of the figure.
Without even looking into the creatures eyes, Eoden said rather loudly "Any louder and the two in there would have heard as well."
Eoden took off his hood and stared deeply intoits eyes. His stomach churned at the thought of who that might be...and he began to slowly back away.

Menel rested her arm on her knee and dropped the stick. She kept her eyes in the shadows of her hood and turned her attention to the caves and quietly asked, "Who are they?" She watched Eoden slowly move away as she tilted her head to the side, give him a questionable look. She made sure her hands stayed in the man's sight as she glanced back and forth between him and the elves in the cave.

Eoden halted and turned his back to the figure. Whoever it may be, she wasn't causing trouble, so he decided to take a risk. "It's Lady Eleryn of Mirkwood, and Nevias. Not too sure about the fellow, but he looks a little troubling if you ask me. But, why do you ask this, elf?" He could decide from her figure that the shape was an elf, definitely female.
"Would you have followed them if you did not know who they were to begin with?"

As Menel spoke, she took her eyes off the man and looked into the cave. "I was camped on the plains. I saw the rider pass through, and being rather untrusting, decided to see who it was....See if they were up to no good." Her act came back with immense ease. Her voice was kept soft and didn't have the usual bite in it.
She returned her gaze back to the man and asked, "And...how did you come by the two?"

Eoden turned now and looked right at the elf. "I've been doing my fair share of spying. Now that the war's over and that Menel character is out of the picture, I have a lot of free time on my hands."
Eoden looked closer at the elf, still unsure of her identity. "Whatever the case may be, I don't like this situation. Eleryn is a friend of mine and if she's in trouble it's my duty to find out why."

A slight smile came across Menel's face as she arched her eyebrow and listened to the man. She took a last glance to the cave and looked back to the man. "I myeself also know Captain Eleryn. I would be glad to join you in this little hideout to watch over her." She extended her left hand to the man, "I'm Andune by the way."

Eoden looked at her hand and waited. He soon smiled back and shook her hand. "Eoden, Dunedain Ranger"
Eoden took a spot next to the elf and dropped to his knees. He peered into the cave and watched the two elves closely. There was still something odd about Andune, but maybe it was just a first impression.
He kept glancing back and forth from the cave to the woman. "And how do you know Eleryn?"

Clearing her throat, Menel told a story off the top of her head, "I was once in the guard. I served under Thranduil's rule for many years, but when the prince took over, I was released from my duties." She looked down, making it seem like painful memories for her, when really, she was quite enjoying this.

Eoden continued to stare into the cave. By the sound of Andune's tone, she was either very emotional, or a fantastic actor. Eoden was tempted to rip off her hood and peer into her eyes. But there was a chance she was just a normal kindly elf, and he did not want to be rude.
"Well then, interesting story. You know the elves always fascinated me. They come out as such nice and gentile creatures, but inside their own homes they fight with their own kind."

"True." Menel answered as she studied Nevias. "But some are kind to right the heart." She said several minutes after, and her sister was one of them. Of course, there had been a conflict between the two after the war, but after that they haven't seen each other since. She sighed and sat back, leaning against a tree.

Eoden listened to the elf as she noticed the ones in the cave had ceased their conversation. They were just standing there, so there was not much to spy on.
"Why are you here in Rohan?" he asked "Elves of your sort rarely come to these parts." Eoden followed his question with another. "I knew some elves from fighting in the war, besides Eleryn. Legolas and Kementari. Know any of them?"

"After I was released I've been traveling Middle-Earth ever since. There's so much I want to see before I part these lands...That is, if I do go." Menel replied. She looked over to Eoden when she answered his second question, "Eleryn and Legolas I know. I've heard of Kementari, though, I've never had the pleasure meeting her. She left the forests shortly after it was invaded many, many years ago."

Eoden grinned as he listened to Andune speak. "Oh, you must go to Valinor...Hell, give me your spot if you don't!" Eoden laughed at his own joke. "Listen, you've seen my face, and I feel a bit, odd, looking into your hood. Will you not show me your face if we are to speak with one another?"

Menel shifted a bit, but showed no sign of not wanting to. She was still in the shadows; the light of the fire did not cast a glow on them. She willingly took down her hood and let it fall to her shoulders. A few strands of hair close to her face had dried since the rain stopped. She tilted her head slightly to let the strands fall over one of her eyes. She looked over at Eoden after doing so.

Eoden casually looked over to the woman's face. His mouth dropped and a small gasp came from it. He looked slightly worried as he fiercly grabbed his sword handle, not yet pulling it out. He clenched his teeth as he looked deeper at the foe. "Explain now, or you'll be dead once more."
